Where disassembly of part is expected, the taper pin, which can be easily driven out of its sized hole, is a useful fastening element. The cylindrical pin is made with a taper of 1/4″ per foot measured on the diameter and with rounded or beveled ends lo facilitate driving in reamed holes.

Adjustable Clevis Pin
This headed, unthreaded pin is inserted into a prepared hole and locked in placed with a cotter pin at the chamfered shank end. Disassembly is possible. Used extensively in both the aircraft end automotive industries.
